Unhurried Practice Group

An online group hosted by Johnnie Moore and Jordan Soliday.

November 14th Theme: Spinefulness

A chance to practice

The modern world often steals our attention and leaves us feeling fragmented, chasing after short term targets, tempted by the next fragment of dopamine.

What if we can support each other in a way that creates an abundance, rather than a scarcity, of attention?

Can we grow our ability to maintain a grounded presence, so that we get a greater sense of aliveness and engagement with the life around us?

Practicing together

For us, this has been a journey of inner focus but it’s not narcissistic - the interesting stuff between humans happens when we play at the boundary between our own experience and that of others.

This is not therapy, but it’s therapeutic. I’ve needed this.

This group will allow us to practice this and learn from each other. We won’t set up idealised versions of ourselves that we can’t live up to. Instead we’ll focus on starting from where we are and be present to what is emerging.

Experimenting and sharing experience

In each practice group , we share experiments to explore each other’s experience. There are no standard recipes, some of these experiments will be provocative, others reflective, and probably mostly a bit of both.

It’s a group for people who want to bring greater presence to their work - as leaders, or designers, or writers or partners or friends. People who are willing to show up as they are, sharing feelings, vulnerabilities and quirks. We bring only light structures to each session, and ideas emerge more organically, grounded in each person's context.

Commitment

Part of what makes this group work is that everyone commits to the learning, with a willingness to sometimes lean into challenges.
